Sports: Haste.

The other night, I wrote a very quick little thing about the Mavs winning and how the wolf pack was a pack…blah blah blah. Now my ass is sitting in front of a computer, impatiently waiting for new used cars to be listed for sale and finding myself with a bit of time to kill and a nagging thought running through my lil head.

So Dirk got shit for heading back to the locker room instead of talking to the blond chick who can barely be understood anyway, after winning? Srsly? I get it, they presented a trophy and shirts and hats, and yadda yadda yadda….there’s still a few games left to be played guys. A whole round of them. With Miami. The team that is turning out to be the 49er’s of our time. I was proud of Dirk when they cut to him and he was walking back to the locker room. Good for him. He knows this isn’t done yet. And I would put money on him being back in the gym at some point on Wednesday night/very early Thursday morning.

I’m excited to see the Finals. Dallas is a well-rounded team from it’s tallest player right on down to ‘lil man, Mr. J. J. Barea. We’ve seen 20+ point games from a huge number of players on this time….if they double up on Dirk, Marion can get it to the hole as well as Jason Terry or even Stojakovic. This team is coming to the finals ready to fucking play. I can’t wait until Tuesday.

Sports: One Man Wolfpack.

I think it needs to be said that the first time I wrote this post it was utter genius. And then my iPhone proceeded to eat it. So here we go, bear with me, Round 2 is likely to be less as pretty, but what else can I do?! 😉

Watching game 4 of the Western Conference Finals was so hard. So hard that M had to change the channel. The game played out as though the only people who showed up intent on playing ball were Westbrook and Durant. I’m not sure what the Mavs were playing with out there, but it certainly wasn’t game. M’s theory was that if there had to be carnage at least we could spare our eyes from it. So we did.

The time ticked by with him intently studying something or the other on Wikipedia and me fidgeting. I kept myself away from my iPhone lest the urge to refresh my ESPN Dallas app every 20 seconds became too much for me to avoid….When the time came however, to check on the score and see if it was finalized, lo and behold, the Mavs “game” had made it through the shitty (I assume, it is after all, Oklahoma, it’s like the Seattle of the South!) weather and shown up to the town of Bricks to collide with our team….and especially it’s “One Man Wolfpack”, Dirk “Mr. Bitches” Nowitzki.

It had been a quiet game for Dirk and somehow when I wasn’t looking in the 4th quarter he blew the fuck up! We watched the overtime round. Watched a veteran team come out fired up and a group of young’ens that just didn’t know what to do with them.

The icing of the night though? Hearing the oh-so-anti-Mavs ESPN panel voice their opinions on changing their MVP pick. Dirk Nowitzki FTW baby!

Can’t wait to see this next game!!

Sports: Warning this may end up needing to be classed as emo.

It’s painful to love a Texas team that isn’t the Cowboys. With them and their legacy of bringing championships to the Big D, their fans don’t face the interminable challenge bestowed upon us lovers of Mavericks and Rangers. I’ve had the unwelcome luxury of spending the most successful seasons our teams have had so far (Fugoff, we’re not talking about ’06 right now), outside of the DFW media bubble and with the rest of the country…and the rest of the country thinks they can only succeed if the team they’re playing fucks up.

It’s infuriating that no one, shy of the commentators during the actual game, can seem to give this team credit for playing their asses off. Once the game ends, the party line becomes “Oklahoma really loused that one up!” (Yeah, I went with ‘loused’. Gotta problem with it? Fugoff.) I’ve watched hours upon hours of post game coverage at this point and nowhere do they speak of the incredible cohesiveness of this team on the court. They completely ignored that the team had at least 8 players scoring at least 4 points or more….even when Carlisle brought the shit up in his post game press thingy.

The Mavs lost game 2 because they weren’t playing ball and the Thunder was, although it did kind of come off as half assed until the fourth quarter. Game 3 was won because the Mavs played well, albeit better on defense than offense, but they played better ball. More experienced ball. Not because the Thunder let them win, guys. That’s just asinine.
